In commemoration of World Environment Day on June 5, 2024, PT Thiess Engineering Indonesia and the Kabil Integrated Industrial Estate Management
(KITK) planted 500 mangrove trees in the Nongsa River area located around the Nongsa Digital Park area.
This event was held on Sunday, June 23, 2024, as a form of joint commitment to preserving the environment and mangrove ecosystems.
This activity is supported by dozens of residents who live around the area. This mangrove planting is part of the social responsibility program of
PT Thiess Engineering Indonesia and KITK.
Mangroves have a very important role in maintaining environmental balance, preventing coastal abrasion, and becoming a habitat for various types of marine life.
"Thiess is committed to supporting environmental stewardship wherever we operate. This mangrove planting is one of the activities to maintain the preservation
of the mangrove ecosystem in Batam," said Rifo who represented PT Thiess Indonesia.
In addition to mangrove planting, Thiess and KITK also handed over assistance in the form of necessities and garbage cans to the community as well as food places
and water bottles (reusable) as a manifestation of activities to reduce waste that damages the environment.
"We are very grateful to Thiess for their concern for the sustainability of the environment and the surrounding community. The planting of mangroves and the
assistance provided are very beneficial for us," said a community representative.
This mangrove planting activity and the delivery of assistance is a tangible manifestation of collaboration between various parties to preserve
the environment and improve community welfare.
It is hoped that this activity can inspire other parties to continue to contribute to preserving nature and helping the surrounding community.
